who can use amaze?

Amaze provides a range of services to families of children and young people with additional needs which may differ slightly according to the area in which you live.

SEND Information, Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS)

Amaze offers information, advice and support to families of children and young people (0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities who live or go to school in Brighton and Hove or East Sussex.

By ‘families’ we mean we support the parent carers, and their children and young people.

You do not need to have an identified special educational need or disability to call our SENDIASS helpline. We are happy to hear from anyone in Brighton and Hove or East Sussex who has a query about a child or young person’s development (or their own development if they are a young person) or the services they receive or should receive.

In Brighton and Hove, we offer some enhanced services including support with claiming DLA and PIP and Face 2 Face befriending for parents and peer support for young people.

Independent Support

Amaze provides Independent Support with EHC planning to parent carers and young people up to 25 in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.

Compass Card

Amaze runs the Compass Card leisure discount scheme in both Brighton and Hove and West Sussex. Visit the Compass Card website for more information.

Referrals by professionals

We are delighted when teachers, social workers, health visitors and other people who work with families encourage parents and young people to use Amaze. Many find it helpful that Amaze can spend more time listening and explaining things to a parent or young person. We can support parents and young people through the EHC planning process, and help them think through decisions e.g. about placement.

It’s usually best if parents or young people make contact with us themselves. If you think we could be of help to a parent or young person please give them the Helpline number. If you know they will have difficulty calling us directly, please get in touch so we can work out an alternative.

Not from round here?

If you’re not from Sussex, there is still a lot of useful information on this Amaze website which you are very welcome to read or download. Take a look at our Advice for Parents section or our Resources area.
