Amaze seeks SENDIASS Worker

21 hours per week, based in Brighton and East Sussex
Salary: £22,658-£26,822 (NJC 25-30) pro rata
Fixed term contract for six months but with opportunity to extend
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well regarded charity, to provide impartial information, advice and casework support to parent carers of children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and, when appropriate, to young people themselves. This may be via the phone, email and face to face for individuals on issues related to SEND, health, social care, personal budgets and preparing for adulthood, but also to groups and via social media. Amaze has been working with families of disabled children for 20 years and has recently taken on the SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) for East Sussex. This post is to increase our capacity to support families in East Sussex and will involve travel around the area, as well as staffing the SENDIASS helpline.
You will be part of a highly-valued service for families and contribute to its ongoing development. You will have experience of working with a broad range of people – including families, parents and or young people, preferably with additional needs. You will also have a good knowledge of the SEND system and ideally of SEND services in East Sussex. You may have gained this knowledge through lived experience, for example by being the parent of a child with SEND. You must have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
