active challenges

Active challenges like cycling, walking or parachute jumping are a different way to raise funds for Amaze.

Some fundraising may take you to great heights or stretch you to your limits. Are you looking for a challenging way to raise funds for Amaze? Why not sign up for something different this year. Take part in a sponsored cycle ride, walk, sky dive or challenge of your choice. The activities are organised by a qualified third party to full safety standards and guarantee that you will share your challenge with other like-minded participants. You can join for Amaze as a team or individual.

london-brighton-cycleLondon to Brighton Cycle Ride – Sunday 6th September 2015

Record numbers are set to don their Lycra and put their pedals to the test for Amaze in the annual Do It For Charity London to Brighton Cycle Ride.

You could join two thousand fellow cyclists on the 54 mile route which kicks off in South London then travels through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before ending up in our very own seaside hotspot, Brighton. The entry fee is £40 and the minimum sponsorship just £100. Amaze will support you with fundraising ideas and materials, and be there to welcome you across the finish line.

Swimming, walking or whatever you fancy

If you are active and adventurous there are so many different challenges you could undertake for Amaze.

Simon boat boot camp2

Simon Cooke, who attempted the coldest ever channel swim for Amaze

Simon Cooke, part of the Brighton Sea Swimmers Club, for example, attempted a world record for the earliest (and coldest ever) cross channel swim in May 2015. Even though Simon had to abandon his swim after five hours due to plummeting temperatures, he still managed to raise over £10,000 for Amaze.

You might prefer a more land-based challenge like Melanie Dunnaway and Richard Cole who completed the Isle of Wight Challenge in August 2014, walking 66 miles right round the island over 28 hours straight. They raised over £1,380 for Amaze.

If you fancy doing a sponsored trek, cycle ride or skydive in the UK or overseas, visit www.doitforcharity.com and choose from a range of pre-organised challenges that you can do for us.

Of course, you don’t have to attempt something quite so intrepid as Simon’s world record attempt or Melanie and Richard’s epic walk. You could take a more conventional fundraising route and do a sponsored run for us such as the Brighton 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon. Read more about running for Amaze.

Skydiving

SkydivingParachute Jump for FREE.

In return for raising a minimum amount of sponsorship money Amaze will pay for your parachute jump and training and receive a sizable donation from your efforts. We work with one of the largest organisers of parachute jumps in the UK, Skyline Parachuting, who organise regular jumps. Visit the Skyline Parachuting website

Design your own challenge

Please get in touch if the challenge you have in mind isn’t mentioned here or if you want us to help you design something unique. For example, we can also register our charity to benefit from most overseas challenges such as treks, climbs, swims and cycle rides. We have had a number of supporters who have come up with their own unique sponsored activity and we have supported them with advice and fundraising materials.

Please help us spread the word about these activities to others who might like to take part. Do contact the fundraising team with any questions or ideas on 01273 234014. Thank you for your support.
