run for Amaze

Amaze has regular runners in the Brighton Marathon, The Brighton Half Marathon and the Brighton Brooks 10k. Join an Amaze running team and make your race really count!

juliusmarathon

Julius celebrates running his fourth Brighton Marathon for Amaze.

Running for Amaze means all the effort you put into training and raising money gets to stay in the local area and make a real difference to families in Brighton and Hove with disabled children.

You can run for Amaze if you have your own place or you can take an Amaze charity place. Amaze sets achievable fundraising targets in keeping with other charities as we have to pay for our limited places. It is rare that runners don’t reach them. There are no set targets for own place runners and we always encourage runners to get their own place if possible. We will provide you with fundraising support and materials and, of course, your Amaze running vest.

We will be with you every step of the way, including on the day itself, when staff, volunteers, friends and family join Amaze cheering points. Please spread the word about Amaze and help us grow our running teams! Thanks

Contact the fundraising team on 01273 234014 for more details, or email nickyb@amazebrighton.org.uk. We’ll be pleased to answer any questions and send you a running pack.

A huge thank you for all your support and encouragement on Marathon day! Especially to Helen for whooping so enthusiastically at the start, Ros for her shouts from mile 14 and the lovely lot at Ovingdean who were wonderful. It was also really special to get to the finish line and find you waiting to welcome us! You won’t believe this but the first thing we did when we hobbled downstairs was to enter for Amaze next year.
 Sonya Hutchinson.

I just wanted to say that the Amaze cheering team on the day of the marathon were brilliant. I’ve run for a couple of charities in the past and never had such good support, as I got from your charity.
Nicola Heron.

Brighton Half Marathon – February

We have charity places available for the current Brighton Half Marathon.

The race starts on Madeira Drive between Brighton Pier and Brighton Marina you will head north past the Royal Pavilion. The route will take you down Grand Parade to the Old Steine before turning left onto Marine Parade. The race then heads out towards Ovingdean, and the bracing cliff tops towards St Dunstan’s where you turn on the road back west towards Brighton. Once past our two Piers you will head into Hove along the Kings Road with the sea on your left. Past the King Alfred Leisure Centre, you will run right to Hove Lagoon before turning left onto the seafront. A great 2 mile run past the colourful beach huts of Hove will bring you back to the Peace Statue, where the race rejoins the road for the last dash to the finish on Madeira Drive.

The fundraising team, volunteers and friends will cheer you along the route and meet you at the charity finishing area.

Brighton Marathon – Aprilmarathon-daz

We have charity places available for the coming Brighton Marathon that takes place in April.

The 26 mile race starts at Preston Park, circles Brighton city centre and the seafront before heading to Portslade and back along the Seafront to the Pier. A brand new course has just been announced for the Brighton Marathon that will mean faster times for next year’s event.  The change in route comes as the field swings east along the coastal road where a hill on the Rottingdean loop has been taken out making the first half of the race faster than ever. The second half is already almost dead flat.

You will be entitled to extra charity hospitality at the start and end of the race, an Amaze running vest, certificate, medal and goody bag. We will also provide you with training and fundraising tips, a training workshop and plenty of support and motivation.

Brooks Brighton 10k – November

We have charity places available for the annual Brooks Brighton 10k.

2013 Amaze runners in Brighton BrooksThis race is very popular with seasoned runners and beginners alike. It is a fast, flat course along the seafront of Brighton and Hove, with start and finish on Madeira Drive.

Many other running events happen throughout the south east, why not try the Bupa Great South Run or a night-time run/jog/walk from London to Brighton.

If you want to run for Amaze in any of the races mentioned above, please contact the fundraising team on 01273 234014 for more details, or email nickyb@amazebrighton.org.uk
