Amaze offers training courses, workshops and support groups for parents of children with additional needs.
These groups and courses give parents the opportunity to share experiences and learn more about particular topics.
We always aim to co-deliver our courses with parent trainers as we believe that the best can be achieved for children when their parents expertise and experience is brought together with practitioner skill and knowledge.
Amaze run Triple P Courses about managing behaviour for parents of children and teens. Some of the ideas covered are useful for any child or young person, others are specifically for children and young people with special needs. We run Triple Stepping Stones courses for parents of children up to 11 and Triple P Teens for parents of children and young people aged 11 and over.
The Triple P courses combine group sessions with individual telephone calls and are delivered by trainers who are parents of children with special needs too. Amaze Triple P courses are FREE to parents and carers in Brighton and Hove.
Our Insiders’ Guide courses focus on what it means to be a parent of a child with special needs. They aim to build parents’ resilience so you are well placed to enjoy the journey bringing up your children.
The courses offer a mixture of practical skills for things like dealing with professionals or responding to behaviour as well as some time to look at how it feels to have a child with special needs and how to build your own resilience. All Insiders’ Guide courses are co-delivered by a professional and a parent carer who has been there too.
The five courses bring together parents with things in common – either those who have children of a similar age or those whose children share a particular need. We run Insiders’ Guide courses for parents of:
- Under 5s with SEN and disabilities
- Under 12s with SEN and disabilities
- Teenagers with SEN and disabilities
- Children with severe and profound learning difficulties
- Children with complex health needs
